Misaligned Vectors
The alarm goes at 6 am in the morning and Rahul wakes up snoozes the alarm and it again fires up in another 10 mins. But this time he reluctantly gets up. Every weekday morning was more or less the same.
Rahul quickly brushes and glances outside his balcony to get a feel of the traffic. The road outside the balcony get clogged in the morning many times and he can’t take his vehicle out from the parking itself. This fear of seeing the clogged road is something he hates. He looks out and find the traffic is still doing okay, so he goes to his parking, takes the car out and parks it about half a kilometer from the home so that when the road is blocked he can walk up to the car and not get stuck. This to him was an innovation of sorts and like any good archer his quiver of arrows had other stuff as well. If the traffic was clogged before he could take his car out, he would take his bicycle and cycle to office. He derived evil pleasure when he was able to ride when hordes of car are stuck for 15 minutes or more. Beating traffic was a life goal. He always thought that traffic was like the video games where difficulty level raises something close to Super Mario where the dragon became more powerful every stage.
Rahul was married without kids and had a nagging wife who was not able to settle with anything and had switched 10 jobs in two years. And finally she prefers to be at home.
Rajan is sleeping after yesterday’s joint session at the outpost with his friends. He doesn’t remember a lot from the night and vaguely remembers that one of his friends has dropped him on a bike. He was sleeping in the courtyard and like always a Myna was over the Peepal tree singing. One of his sisters got him a cup of tea and he finally woke up little dizzy but back to normalcy. TRajan has been on the lookout for prospective bride and just last week he had been to a neighbouring village and really liked the girl. He was sure that she was the one whom he would like make her the partner for life. Rajan was thinking about how wonderful it would be to have this beautiful lady in his life. But there was one problem, girl’s father was a high school teacher and would not be able to give dowry and arrange for a big fat wedding that Rajan’s family expected.
Rajan’s family had a parcel of land in the village. Multiple generation always had single male inheritor and hence there has been no division of the ancestral family land. For Rajan like many others getting married was one of the important life goals.Rajan’s family was rich by resources but not great with cash. He was sure that that he cannot let go this match and he was lovestruck.
Rahul came out of the meeting at 10:30 PM with his global team and it went really well. The team was working for last three months tirelessly and results were positive. He was really looking forward to things and now concentrate on the next set of deliverables. Rahul, for some reason, has this idea of retiring to a small town with possibly owning a piece of agricultural land. He is still just 32 years but retirement is looming large in his mind. While returning this though again crossed his mind and he decided to talk to his father the very next day.
Rajan meanwhile had decided on the land which will need to get sold in order to maintain a big fat wedding and impress the world at large. The village land is much more than property, it is the family’s honour.
All this was happening in cadence and a deal was struck between Rajan and Rahul. Rajan was happy that he will be having a family life started, Rahul was thinking of a possibility of retiring back.
It’s been 5 years now, Rahul has been still working on project and deliverables. Rajan has also moved on with his family to town nearby their village as he had to meet the demands of his wife and a kid born to them a couple of years back. Life has been on the run in full speeds for both Rahul and Rajan. Is this a misaligned vector or tangents that one has to take in life.
